About Barrus Pianos

Barrus Pianos is a Piano Store that sells used pianos, as well as piano rentals either month by month or for special events. Using experienced technicians instructed by Ralph, Barrus Pianos continues to service and rebuild all makes and models of pianos with the highest level of expertise. We also continue to sell, install and service different makes of player pianos.


Barrus Pianos was established in 1951 by Ralph Barrus, after he returned from the School of Piano Technology at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. He built the business by establishing his expertise in piano tuning repair and rebuilding. Ralph was recognized as one of the premier piano technicians in the Western U.S. He expanded to piano sales and rentals in the early 1960s with the import of the Yamaha piano. Barrus Pianos continues to service and sell pianos from different manufacturers, adding PianoDisc player piano sales, installation, and service in 1986. We sell, install, and service PianoDisc and acoustic pianos for the public, as well as for a lot of the Piano Dealers in the valley. We stopped selling new pianos in the early 1990s to eliminate contention with the other new piano dealers over new piano sales, and to allow us to continue selling and installing PianoDiscs for them. We also sell and install QRS player systems.
